RADIO AKICHA PROFILE
We are introducing to you “Radio Akicha” 99.5 FM, a radio station started by the Diocese of Lodwar (Kenya) through its communications department in January 2009. Radio Akicha has at present, the best quality studios in Lodwar with professional and modern equipment. The station is run by a team of nine professionals and a group of volunteers. Recently we have expanded our coverage through the installation of a transmission kit of 1000 watts. Our waves are now clear in a radius of 80 km. around Lodwar. This area of about 15,000 sq. km. holds a population of about 243,809 inhabitants (1999 statististic’s projection). During a survey conducted in April 2009 it was found that 90% of the population who had a radio were tuning everyday to Radio Akicha. We are also present in the web through our blog and facebook fans page, where we post daily our local news.
