VISION

Radio Akicha aims at bringing “light” in all dimensions of life in Turkana. We wish to present the Catholic faith and to promote integral human development. We entertain through music and drama – often utilising local musicians and artists. We inform about major national and world events, while not neglecting news from within Turkana. We endeavour to deepen the faith of the Christian community and to reach out to those who have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is mainly done through the Turkana language.

MISSION

The mission of Radio Akicha is to further evangelisation among all the sections of the community. This means providing “moments” of prayer, instruction and reflection; fostering justice, peace and reconciliation and improving education and adult literacy. It also means empowering women and promoting the family; enhancing health and hygiene; guiding the youth through programmes of leadership and behavioural change; and addressing the ethnic, gender and cultural identity issues. The perennial needs for water and food sufficiency, animal health and agricultural efforts, improved infrastructure and communications will be highlighted, while we endeavour to inform and entertain in an attractive and ethical manner; and to provide transparent and objective information.
